01/The Problem
Most matching is just search with a different name.
Filter by industry. Filter by city. Scroll through fifty results. Pick a few that look vaguely right. This is how most platforms do matching, and it consistently produces low-quality connections because it is based on what people say about themselves, not what would actually be mutually valuable. The result is networking events where people spend the whole day talking to the wrong people, accelerators where matching feels arbitrary, and B2B marketplaces where discovery is broken. The data to make better connections is almost always already there. It just is not being used.
02/Functional Overview
Matching based on what actually makes a connection valuable.
ConnectIQ starts with structured profiles - the data your platform already collects. It layers in stated intent - what each participant is looking for, what they can offer - and where available, behavioural signals. From these inputs it builds a compatibility model specific to your context and generates a ranked list of recommended connections for each participant, with a brief rationale explaining why each match was suggested. Participants can accept, skip, or request introductions. The engine learns from these responses and improves recommendation quality over time. ConnectIQ runs as a module inside Nexus for event-based matchmaking, or as a standalone API and embedded widget for platforms that already have their own UI.
03/Origin & Rationale
Where it came from: ConnectIQ was built as the AI buyer recommendation engine inside a large government CRM platform for Tamil Nadu's MSME sector. The platform ran Vendor Development Programmes and Reverse Buyer-Seller Meets - events where the explicit goal was creating commercial connections between MSME vendors and enterprise buyers. The existing approach - category filters and a vendor directory - was producing low-quality results. Vendors with strong products but limited networks were consistently underperforming because they did not know the right buyers existed.
We built a recommendation system that analysed vendor profiles - product categories, certifications, supply capacity, target markets - against buyer profiles capturing procurement categories and sourcing intent. The quality of connections improved immediately. ConnectIQ is that engine, available as a standalone module for any platform where getting matching right is the difference between a product that works and one that does not.
04/Proven Deployments
A government MSME platform - moving vendor-buyer discovery from chance to intent.
Our client runs structured trade events for Tamil Nadu's MSME sector, where the explicit objective is commercial connection between vendors and enterprise buyers. The platform manages thousands of participants across multiple stakeholder categories. Vendors join these events to find new buyers. Buyers join to find reliable suppliers. The quality of those connections is what determines whether the event was worth running.
The situation before: There was no matching system. Vendors occupied stalls. Buyers walked the floor. Whether a useful connection happened depended on physical proximity and chance conversation. Vendors with strong capabilities but small networks consistently underperformed. Many buyers left without meeting suppliers who could have served them well. The information to make better connections existed - it was sitting in the registration data - but nothing was using it.
Platform build
AI-powered buyer recommendations: profile-based matching, ranked connections, targeted outreach, and integrated follow-up workflows
Outcome Impact
Vendors discovered relevant buyers through structured matching. Campaign outreach became targeted, measurable, and data-driven.
05/Deployment Phases
/Path A
Inside Nexus: If you are running events on Nexus, ConnectIQ is available as a module. You define the matching criteria for your event type, and it starts surfacing recommendations as soon as profiles are complete.
/Path B
Standalone integration: We review your platform's existing data model and profile structure. We configure the matching criteria together. ConnectIQ integrates via API or embedded widget. We run a test cohort to calibrate recommendation quality before going live with your full user base.
/Both Paths
The engine runs and learns. We monitor recommendation acceptance rates and tune the model in the first few weeks. You get full visibility into how matches are being made and why.
